Torrance youth, don’t spend summer at home! Come to Summer Camp and enjoy fun filled days participating in indoor crafts, outdoor games, walking field trips and an excursion every week. Torrance Summer Camps will be in session Monday, June 27, 2016 – Friday, September 2, 2016 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Fees range from $130 to $155 per week. Summer Day Camps will be held at Greenwood Park, La Romeria Park and Wilson Park. Teen Camp will be held at Greenwood Park. Morning Care and Extended Care will be available at all camps for an additional fee. Registration for the 2016 LA Triathlon At Torrance Beach is open! Make sure to register early and take advantage of our early bird pricing discount! We're excited for another wonderful year at Torrance Beach with a beautiful course that runs along the sand and through the hills and cliffs of the City of Torrance. It's a fun, challenging and scenic triathlon that shouldn't be missed! Once again, there are multiple distance categories, and a 5k run to bring something for athletes of all skill levels. First Introduced in 2014, the 21st century LA Triathlon at Torrance Beach course is designed in a small footprint, spectator-friendly, looping International Triathlon Union (ITU)-style format. The course is located entirely in the City of Torrance, which is ideal for this type of course. The start and finish is on Torrance Beach with the bike and run segments on city and residential streets, and in Miramar Park and the beachfront path. The 32nd annual Richard Sherman Trio is a benefit jazz concert for Seaside Community Church. Support of this event over the years has enabled Seaside to provide facilities for community groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Department of Children & Family Services, Re-Unification of Families Program, several theatre groups, as well as underwrite thousands of dollars of support towards domestic violence shelters, and rebuilding homes in Nicaragua.

The Co-Rec Club is a co-ed recreation program for 6th, 7th and 8th grade Torrance Middles school students/residents. This recreation program is designed to promote self-esteem through group interaction and self-expression. Co-Rec provides dances and activities throughout the year. Events are usually held twice a month on Friday nights at the Ken Miller Recreation Center. This program is sponsored and supervised by the City of Torrance Community Services Department. Students must be a member to attend these dances. Membership into this exclusive club is $15.00 a year (September 2016 - August 2017). A current school ID or a printout of a current schedule is mandatory for membership and admission. This OPEN HOUSE is for parents and students interested in viewing the facility, meeting staff, obtaining information regarding the program and purchasing memberships. Don't miss out!!

The latest feature film from award-winning Japanese director Mamoru Hosoda (Summer Wars, Wolf Children): When Kyuta, a young orphan living on the streets of Shibuya, stumbles into a fantastic world of beasts, he’s taken by Kumatetsu, a gruff, rough-around –the-edges warrior beast that has been searching for the perfect apprentice. Despite their constant bickering, Kyuta and Kumatetsu begin training together and slowly form a bond as surrogate father and son. But when a deep darkness threatens to throw the human and beast worlds into chaos, the strong bond between this unlikely pair will be put to the ultimate test – a final showdown that will only be won if the two can finally work together using all of their combined strength and courage.
