Join us to honor on this special day to honor this special group, American Veterans. This year the Western Museum of Flight (WMoF) and the Brannan Family Foundation recalls and pays tribute to those veterans of the baby boomer war, Vietnam and all of Southeast Asia conflicts. This WMoF event will be longer than usual with scheduled events covering the four hours, 11AM till 3PM. At 11AM, the Huey, UH-1, on loan from the Wings & Rotors Air Museum, will be on display. A special exhibit will highlight the L-19 Birddog. The Birddog was the Army’s first plane … after the Army and Air force were split into two separate services (1947). The Birddog’s mission was to find the enemy and orbit overhead until artillery could be brought to bear on the enemy ala in the manner of a bird dog (gun dog) used by game hunters. During the decade of the 50’s, Cessna delivered 3,241 Birddogs to the Army. At noon, you’ll hear firsthand accounts of heroic combat search and rescue forces (CSAR) missions from Ben Williams, Lt. Col., USMC. Related books on sale with authors present to discuss and sign their works As always, WMOF Members are free; non-members are $5, which also includes access to WMOF museum exhibits. Free parking. BTW, a WMoF membership (wmof.com/newmem.htm) can be yours for as little as $50 annually giving you one-year unlimited FREE admission to the WMoF museum, all the Celebrity Series Lectures, Quarterly Newsletters, access to the research library and access to Special Events.
