The City of Torrance Community Services Department invites participants ages 6-11 to spend Winter Break at Greenwood Park participating in indoor crafts, outdoor games, and walking field trips Monday, December 30, 2013, Thursday, January 2, 2014, 2010 and Friday, January 3, 2014 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fees for Winter Fun Camp are $78 for residents and $88 for non-residents. Camp t-shirts are $7 and must be worn on field trips. TEEN CAMP: Think you are too cool for camp? Then check out Winter Teen Camp where you will enjoy indoor crafts, games, and walking field trips with other teens your age and walking field trips, Monday, December 30, 2013, Thursday, January 2, 2014, 2010 and Friday, January 3, 2014 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fees for Winter Teen Camp are $84 for residents and $94 for non-residents. Camp t-shirts are $7 and must be worn on field trips. EXTENDED CARE: Is available for both Fun Camp and Teen Camp. Morning Care is 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Fees are $15 for residents and $20 for non-residents. After Care is 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Fees are for $15 for residents and $20 for non-residents.

Volunteers are needed for habitat restoration every Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Join the group and gain expertise about weeds of the South Bay. The After School Club Program is geared towards youth in elementary and middle schools. This recreation program is designed to promote self-esteem through group interaction and self-expression. The program offers games, sports, music, group discussions, guest speakers and a wide variety of activities. Structured time is set aside for homework each day. This is not a tutorial based program. This program is based on a ratio of one staff member per ten youth at Elementary School and one staff member per thirteen youth at Middle Schools. Enrollment is limited at all schools. All participants must be a student at the school for which they are registering and also must be picked up by an adult, age 18 or older. Resident walk-in registration begins August 19, 2013. Non-resident walk-in registration begins August 26, 2013. The Torrance Art Museum invites the public to attend TAM'S ANNUAL 2013 SOUTH BAY FOCUS EXHIBITION. South Bay Focus is TAM's annual Contemporary and Traditional Juried art exhibition. The 2013 South Bay Focus is presented in conjunction with the Torrance Artist Guild and the South Bay Watercolor Society. This year's Juror is James MacDevitt, Curator at Cerritos College Art Gallery.

Please join CSUDH professor Connie Vadheim for entertaining and educational classes on various native plant topics. This class occurs on the 1st Saturday of the month of every month from 10:00 a.m. - 12 noon and repeats the following 1st Tuesday of the month of every month from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Every month is a different topic - never the same class twice. Topics range from 'edible seeds and berries' to 'Chaparral Communities and pruning techniques'. Thie month's topic will be in a Japanese garden: using CA native Pines and Junipers. After each presentation, Connie will lead the class through the Nature Center's Native Plant Garden to illustrate key points and inspire further discussion. Handouts are included.
