The 30th Annual Torrance Unified School District's College and Information Fair provides exhibits with tables for over 100 colleges from Junior Colleges to Ivy League Universities. The purpose of the College Information Fair is to assist students and their parents navigate through the various steps to higher education. Students and parents will also be able to familiarize themselves with the various college and university campus programs around the nation. Workshops will cover topics ranging from writing college entrance exams to filling out financial aid applications. TUSD counselors will also be available to answer questions. All students, whatever the grade level, to take advantage of this event in an effort to begin thinking about what type of college, university, or higher education opportunities that are available. There is a college that fits every student’s needs and plans for the future. This free community event is sponsored jointly by the Torrance Council of PTAs, TUSD, all four Torrance high schools, and the team of high school counselors.

Free Tax Help Is Here! A Free Tax Assistance Event at El Camino College Compton Center In Partnership with Intuit Tax Freedom Project Students and Community Members Welcome! Get the help you need and file your taxes for FREE. Volunteers will be on site to help you file. It’s FREE! You qualify to file your Federal and State returns for FREE if ONE of the following applies to you for tax year 2010: • You made $31,000 or less • You made $58,000 or less and are active military • You qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) It’s QUICK! If you are due a refund and you e-file, you can get your money as few as 12 days. It’s EASY! File your state and federal taxes using TurboTax Freedom Edition, and if you have questions, volunteers and tax experts will be on hand to assist you. What you need to bring: • Copy of 2009 tax return, if available • Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayers’ Identification Number (ITIN) for each family member • Proof of income including W2s and 1099 forms • Documentation of deductible expenses • Account and routing numbers of checking and savings accounts for direct deposit and a faster refund To avoid waiting in line, call 866.577.1231 to make a reservation, and mention that you are calling to reserve your spot for the Intuit Tax Freedom Project.
