Join Bob Shanman for the Christmas Bird Count. He will share the basics of bird watching, collecting data including describing and identifying the different birds. Pre-registration is required. Join us for our Habitat Restoration Program every Saturday from 8:45 a.m. - 12 noon on the Madrona Marsh Preserve planting natives, weeding, propagating or maybe watering new plants. Wear closed toe shoes, bring gloves and be ready to work. Refreshments are provided. Rain or holiday cancels this program. Be on time - late comers will not be able to work. The World's Largest Citizen Science Project: Featuring - The Christmas Bird Count. A beginner's guide to birds, bird life and behavior. Each class will include a short presentation about the featured birds followed by a walk on the Madrona Marsh Preserve to look for them. Bring binoculars and wear comfortable shoes. Classes are limited to 20 students. Ages 9+. Class will be held in the Madrona Marsh Nature Center on the 3rd Saturday of every month from 9:00 a.m. - 12 noon. Pre-registration is required. Free! The City of Torrance Community Services invites you to a pancake breakfast and a visit with Santa at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center, with entertainment featuring a puppet show by Jim Gamble Puppet Productions and music by DJ Ozzie. Tickets are $20.00 a person and reservations can be made by phone (310) 618-2720 or in person at the Registration Office in the West Annex of City Hall 3031 Torrance Blvd, (two buildings east of the Library) on the following dates: Torrance Residents: November 27-December 7, 2012 Non-Torrance Residents: December 4-7, 2012 The registration office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will be closed on Friday, November 30 and Friday, December 14.
