The City of Torrance Community Services invites Torrance residents to take advantage of Early Day Camp Registration for Torrance Residents beginning May 16, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Registration Office, located at 3031 Torrance Blvd. Summer Day Camps will be in session June 26, 2017 September 1, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Resident fees range from $130 to $140 per week. Attention Sophmores, Juniors and Seniors High school students! The City of Torrance Community Services Department is now accepting applications for the Youth Volunteer Leadership Training Program. The program will be held June 26 August 18. The deadline to sign up is May 22. Limited space available. Volunteer opportunities may consist of working with: children in a park, day camp, office work, youth/adult sports (coaching/umpiring/refereeing), seniors at a senior citizen facility, a branch library or the Nature Center (learning about nature and environmental issues). Applications are available at your local Library, school Activities Office, Registration Office or on line.

Madrona Marsh Nature Center and Preserve, 3201 Plaza Del Amo, Torrance
"Friday Fun" is a hands-on program for pre-schoolers, ages 3-6 years and their parents or guardians. The program will incorporate story time, science, art and a tour emphasizing the chosen topic. Some weeks there will be potting and other activities. The topics emphasize respect for all living things and prepare the children (and parents) to be good stewards of the planet. Space is limited to 20 children. Free. Donations are greatly appreciated. Pre-registration is required.
