Then Youth Council is for you. Apply now for a challenging position
on the Torrance Youth Council.
Torrance Youth Council is an advisory body to the Torrance City Council
formed in order to promote and advise the City Council on matters pertaining
to youth in the City. Youth Council is comprised of two members representing
each of the Torrance high schools, two from El Camino, two from the
California Academy of Mathematics and Sciences (CAMS), two from Bishop,
two from Shery and two at large. They meet the first and third Wednesday
of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the West Annex Commission Room of Torrance
City Hall.
Youth Council members are committed to work on such diverse projects
as: Youth Forum, Christmas and Spring Boutiques; ATTIC Pancake Breakfast;
Beat the Odds Scholarship Program; ASB Bowl, ASB Joint Meeting, volunteering
and assisting in various community and Department events; and, attending
Junior State, a statewide political organization. A member of the Youth
Council is required to attend at least two City Council, Parks and Recreation
Commission, and Community Services Commission meeting.
Applications are now being accepted for membership in the Torrance
Youth Council. Interested teens should fill out the application

Applications must be postmarked or delivered to the Torrance Community
Services Department no later than Tuesday, October 10, 2005. Interviews
are scheduled for Wednesday, October 19, and Thursday, October 20, 2005.
