From this point forward 2 meter check ins will be taken only at 1855 (6:55 pm) following the warning preamble which will be given on both 2 meters and 222 MHz. If you are not yet equipped to check in on the TARA 222 MHz repeater, be ready to check in on the 2 meter (146.235) repeater at 1855.

Last evening's 222 net was great. Just about all members who checked in were 5/9. We assume that using Tone squelch (CTCSS) also known as TSQ or CT was helping. For those not yet on the 222 MHz bandwagon, you have a open invitation to join us.

For you that have 222 MHz capability, but have a problem with programming it for CTCSS operations, a general email was sent last week with instructions for setting up CTCSS on the Kenwood TH-F6A.

Those having a problem setting up other radios can call or email me, page 7 of your 2009 TARA roster and I will try to find someone that can help. If you are a CERT member bring your radio to the General Meeting. There are almost always hams that are there to help.

The new TARA T-shirts are available and quantities are limited. The cost is 11.00 for all sizes through XL, 2X and 3X will be 13.00.

We also are looking into the possibility of a TARA bush hat which will, most likely, be available by pre-order only. Although there is no price set as yet, we think the hat will cost around 20.00. If you are familiar with the CERT version, the TARA bush hat will be similar but with the TARA logo or patch. This type of hat comes in S/M or L/XL only and is highly recommended, They are cooler than a cap and provide better protection for your head, face, ears and neck from the sun.

Those interested in this or any other TARA clothing, contact Bob, WA6KZF, page 5 of your 2009 TARA roster.
