TARA and Torrance City Messages

TARA Message 1

The first ADC drill of 2012 is coming this Thursday, February 9, 1900~2100. For this exercise the ADC will be 90404 (North Torrance Library).

As usual the drill will replace the normal CERT general meeting and is meant for all DSVs to participate. These drills are as close as you can get to the real thing so it is vitally important that all TARA members check in with a tactical or formal (form ICS-213) message. Remember brevity is the watchword. The shorter and more concise the messages are, the less stress you will put on the system.

At this time it is not known what frequencies will be used. You will receive that information just prior to the exercise so be certain to check the messages on Wednesday. As usual, parking will be an issue so we suggest as many as possible of you call in from outside the area.

TARA Message 2

Walt K1DFO's next amateur radio classes, both Technician and General, are scheduled for Febuary 4 and 11, 2012. The Technician class is from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM both days, and General from 2:15 PM to 5:00 PM. The FCC tests will be given on Feburary 18 from 10 AM to noon. All this is at Hesse park in Rancho Palos Verdes.

Please pass this on to anyone you know who is interested in becoming a ham, or upgrading to General.

TARA Message 3

Monday night at 7:30 is the monthly TARA Board of Directors meeting in the second floor seminar room at TPD. All TARA members are invited to attend.

Tuesday at 12:30 is the monthly TARA lunch. Anyone interested is invited to this no-business social event, currently held at the Sizzler, 2880 Sepulveda Blvd, between Maple and Hickory Ave.
