City of Torrance - Victim Support Program

The Torrance Victim Support Program was created to ensure that support services are accessible to crime victims. The Victim Support Program is available to provide helpful and compassionate support to victims of crime and increase their participation in the Criminal Justice System. The Program provides such services as crisis intervention, counseling, resource and referrals and court support. Listed below are some of the services designed to assist the crime victims in the City of Torrance.

Program Services

Crisis Intervention -Supporting victims through the emotional trauma following a crime Assistance with Victim Compensation Claims - Directing victims to the appropriate agencies for filing compensation

Counseling - Providing professional counseling for victims to help them cope with the problems related to the crime Provide Crime Prevention Information - Providing brochures, pamphlets or other related material on crime prevention

Orientation to the Criminal Justice System - Explanation of the court system, court support and case status Follow-up Contact with Victim - contacting the victim to ensure that services are being provided

VINE Program (Victim Information Notification Everyday)

Vine is a free and anonymous telephone service that provides victims of crime two important features: information and notification. The Los Angeles County VINE service is provided by the LA County Sheriff's Department. VINE monitors the custody status of offenders in the LA County Jail and receives updated information every 15 minutes via an interface with the LA County Jail booking system. Information is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and the service is available in English and Spanish.
