Chaplain Program

(310) 618-5688

The Torrance Police Chaplain Program began in 1992 with six chaplains, representing major religions.

The duties of the Chaplain's generally include the following activities:

Be available to families in traumatic situations

Respond to major incidents and cases involving serious injury

Participate in ride-along's.

Provide input to the Department on community problems, needs, concerns, and interest as learned from the community

Chaplains are issued Department identification cards and blue jackets to identify them as Torrance Police Department Chaplains. They meet once per month at the station.  The Chief's Office has overall administrative supervision of the Chaplains; the lieutenant assigned to that office is responsible for selecting, training and coordinating the Police Chaplain Program.

Anyone interested in becoming a Police Chaplain may contact the Office of the Chief of Police, Chief's Adjutant, at 310-618-5688.
