Seniors Don't Be Scammed- Preventing Elder Abuse (Tuesday, February 21, 2012- 10AM-12Noon)
The Torrance Police Department and the Torrance Police Community Affairs Division present, "Seniors Don't Be Scammed!" This informative free program features techniques on how to identify and prevent elder abuse. In addition, information on the Tax Aide Program will also be provided. Seniors, caregivers, family and friends are invited to learn about the latest scams targeting the seniors in our community. No RSVP is necessary. Please join us in the Katy Geissert Civic Center Library community meeting room located at 3301 Torrance Blvd. in the City of Torrance, Tuesday, February 21, 2012- 10AM to 12 Noon. Community Safety Training- "Forensic Identification Specialist" (Monday, February 6th, 6PM-7:30PM)
The City of Torrance Community Affairs Division and Torrance Police Department Forensic Identification Specialists join together to sponsor a fact-filled, informative and enlightening class for our Torrance citizens regarding what to do if you are a victim of a crime. Our Forensic Identification Specialists will also be demonstrating how the Torrance Police Department is leading the way in the use of cutting edge technology to solve more crimes and keep more criminals off our streets. Please note these safety workshops are for adults only. The class will be located in the Torrance Police Department downstairs seminar room, 3300 Civic Center Drive, in the City of Torrance. Partners in Policing (The Fall class has been filled, registration for Spring will begin in April.)

The next Partners in Policing (PIP) class will begin in the Spring at the Torrance Police Department. This class is open to all Torrance residents, people who work in Torrance or people that have some other affiliation to to the City (i.e. attend school in Torrance, are members of a church in Torrance, are members of a Torrance based civic groups such as Kiwanis, Rotary, etc or have some other City ties).  To find out more about the PIP program or complete a PIP application, click here.
