Aikido Club

The Torrance Aikido Club offers instruction in contemporary martial arts based on the coordination of mind and body. The club meets on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Cultural Arts Center. Youths meet at 6:45 pm - Adults meet at 8:00 pm On Tuesday and Thursdays the club meets at the El Retiro Park Rotary Building. Youths meet at 6:30 pm and adults meet at 7:45 pm The quarterly fee is $75 for adults and $45 for children, family discounts are available. For more information call Clarence Chinn (562) 746-3250.

Artists Guild
The Torrance Artists Guild is a non-profit fine arts organization that recognizes all media of paintings, printmaking and photography.  It was formed for the cultivation and advancement of art and to promote art awareness in our community.  The General meetings are held the second week of each month at 7:00 pm.  After a short business meeting, a guest demonstrating artist of spaker is featured.  Admission is free.  Yearly dues are $25 or $35 for member and spouse.  The guild hosts "Art by the Beach" at Miramar Park, the first Sunday of each month from April through October. Craftsmen's Guild
Torrance Craftsmen's Guild promotes interest in arts and crafts and the exchange of artistic ideas. Members include jewelers, woodcrafters, ceramists, metal sculptors and doll makers. Meets the first Thursday of each month at 7:30 pm in the Ken Miller Recreation Center. Annual membership fee is $30. If you're a Crafter, please consider joining the Torrance Craftsmen's Guild. The Guild is used to provide scholarships for eligible high school seniors in Torrance. Call Mary Chamberlain (310) 547-5097for additional information.

Fencing Club

The Torrance Fencing Club provides instruction in the European style of fencing and the opportunity to enter competitions.  The club meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30-9:30 pm in the Ken Miller Recreation Center. Equipment fee is $2 and applies to all participants.  Beginning fencers are recommended to enroll in City of Torrance Fencing classes. Judo Club
Judo the "Gentle Way" is an Olympic Sport, popular all around the world.   Fee is $105* for 10 weeks. *Cost does not include USIF registration fee ($50) and Judo Gi (uniform-approx. $40 - $50).
Physical and mental education of the mind and body by combining an excellent physical workout that increases stamina and physical conditioning that builds strength, endurance, and physical toughness.  Learn to defend yourself.  From the mental aspects of Judo, you can learn discipline, build respect for yourself and peers.  The Judo class instructors are all certified USJF/USJI teachers and qualified black belts.  Head Instructor: Ed Shiosaki-4 Dan.
Classes start on April 4, 2006, and are on Tuesday's and Thursday's at the Wilson Park Sports Center.

South Bay Judo Club offers classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Wilson Park Sports Complex.  New sessions begin quarterly (January, April, June, and September). 

Kendo Club 

The Kendo Club teaches the "Way of the Sword", which includes mental and physical self-control and self-development. Open to youth (ages 7 years and older) and adults. Beginning class meets Tuesdays from 7:30-9:30 pm Intermediate and advanced classes meet on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:30 -9:30 pm Classes are held at the Cultural Arts Center. Monthly fee is $15 (prepaid quarterly). A one-time registration fee of $50 is required and does not include SCKF/AUSKF yearly dues or equipment costs. Sign-up at the Tuesday class. Naginata Club

The Torrance Naginata Club offers instruction in the traditional martial art of Naginata (pole-arm).  Naginata is a discipline that teaches physical technique, mental awareness, concentration, etiquette, and self-development.   Instruction is offered to students (ages 10 and above) and adults.  Beginners meet from 7:30 - 8:45 pm.  Intermediate and advanced students meet from 7:30 - 9:30 pm.  Fee is $15 per month, payable quarterly, plus a one-time registration fee of $25.  For information, call Helen Nakano at (310) 530-6288.
