Effective July 1, 2010, the following fine increases will take effect (for the late return of these materials):
Books (Adult and Children)
- Fine is increased to $.30 (30 cents) per item per day (from $.25 per item per day)
DVDs and Videos (Adults and Children)
- Fine is increased to $2.00 (two dollars) per item per day (from $1.00 per item per day)
You may renew by phone or via the Internet.
To renew by phone, call 1-310-618-2785. You will need your library card number and PIN (the "PIN" is the last 4 digits of your home telephone number [that the Library has on file]).
To renew books or determine fines you may have accrued via the Internet, please log in to your account (the "PIN" is the last 4 digits of your home telephone number [that the Library has on file]).
Please note that 7-day books (adult and juvenile), and items on hold for other patrons are NOT renewable. In addition, there is a limit of two renewals per item. Videos and DVDs can be renewed twice as well.
Renewal is available from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. each day.
Circulation Policy
The regular circulation period is three weeks from the day that the book, audio-cassette, or music CD is checked out. 7-day check-out materials such as videocassettes and DVDs are labeled as such. 'Vacation loans' of eligible materials are for six weeks; vacation loans are not allowed on 7-day materials or on new books. Books, DVDs, CDs, and videocassettes may be renewed up to two times by using the "My Account" feature in the web catalog. If there is a request/hold on an item, it cannot be renewed. If the screen asks for "User ID", that is your library card number (barcode number), and your PIN number (the last four digits of your home phone number [that the Library has on file]).
The following materials are not available for check out: Reference books, newspapers, and adult magazines at Katy Geissert Civic Center Library.
Library patrons must be 18 years or older to check out videos and DVDs.
Due to budget constraints, starting July 1, 2003, there will no longer be a grace period for return of library materials. Fines begin accruing the day after the materials are due. Also beginning July 1, 2003, video and DVD overdue fines will be $1.00 per item per day, and juvenile material fines will be $.25 per day. Books/materials checked out can be returned to ANY Torrance Library, not necessarily to the one it was checked out from.
