The City of Torrance requires that all residents interested in serving on a commission or certain committees be certified through the City of Torrance Commissioner Certification Training Program. This program was developed to prepare prospective candidates in the roles, responsibilities, and requirements of commission service.
The program is a two-hour training class hosted by City staff at the Torrance Civic Center. Because commissioners are appointed in February, certification classes are conducted twice annually. There is no charge for this training. If you are interested in serving as a Commissioner or Committee member, it is required you attend one of the City's training sessions. Admittance is on a first come, first served basis. The certification is valid for two years. Click here to register for the March 31, 2015
