Kirk Leins is one of the hosts of CitiCABLE's longest running program Community Cooking, which showcases various chefs and their recipes from Torrance and around Southern California.
Kirk is a South Bay native, born in San Pedro and graduated from Mary Star of the Sea High School. He says it was his European upbringing in a household of great cooks that sparked his interest in food.
A graduate of California State University at Northridge with a Bachelor's degree in Radio, Television and Film, Kirk has spent the last 20 years producing television. When he's not busy hosting CitiCABLE's Community Cooking show, he works behind the scenes as the coordinating producer for Judge Judy. Kirk is a 7-time Daytime Emmy nominee.
Throughout the last several decades, Kirk has also had several side careers in the world of food. Formerly a chef at Stroh's Gourmet in Venice Beach, California, Kirk spends much of his time working as a personal chef in and around the Los Angeles area. He is also a freelance food writer and the Executive Chef for YOU Magazine, a subscription-based online magazine that services the world of real estate.
For the last 5 years, Kirk has been self-publishing Everyday Gourmet, a free monthly newsletter dedicated to helping home chefs with their weeknight dinner making.
When he's not cooking, Kirk spends his time raising his 5-year old son, Rocco. He is an avid sports fan that bleeds Dodger blue and Lakers purple. Kirk loves traveling, exercising, the great outdoors and watching live music performances in small, local venues.
