Makes 4 sandwiches

8 slices sourdough bread
8 oz. Fontina, sliced
1 small red onion, sliced thin
8 tsp. soft butter

Top 1 of the bread slices with the fontina cheese.

Place some of the red onions on top of the cheese, more or less depending on your palate.

Put another slice of cheese on top of the onions.

Top with the second bread slice.

Spread outside of sandwich evenly with butter.

Place in skillet.  Cook on medium heat until lightly browned on both sides and cheese in center has melted.


White Bread - Cheddar Cheese - Olives
French Bread - Gruyere - Apples
Wheat Bread - Swiss Cheese - Bacon
Rye Bread - Havarti Cheese - Any Specialty Mustard
