The Public Works Department's Concrete Repair Section maintains the City's 550 miles of curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and wheelchair ramps. These concrete items are highly susceptible to damage by invasive tree roots. In many cases, the first step to proper repairs consists of tree removal. The permanent repairs can then be affected. Each year, the Concrete Repair Section removes and replaces more than a mile of curbs and gutters and more than two (2) miles of sidewalks, driveway approaches, and wheelchair ramps.
To supplement the efforts of the Concrete Repair Section, a contractor performs quick, temporary repairs to uplifted sidewalks. The contractor specializes in sidewalk grinding and ramping throughout the City.
