The Western Avenue and Rolling Hills Road Water Main Replacement Project will replace approximately 5,000 linear feet of existing 12 inch diameter cast iron pipe with new 12 inch diameter ductile iron pipe (DIP) along Western Avenue between Del Amo Boulevard and 190th Street to the north. The existing pipe has broken twice in the last 3 years and has damaged the street. This project will also reconstruct the damaged area of the street. A jacking and receiving pit will be excavated to enable the pipe to be installed below a bank of petroleum pipelines north of Del Amo Boulevard. The construction work for this part of the project will be carried out round the clock until the job is completed.
Approximately 700 linear feet of existing 8 inch diameter cast iron pipe in Rolling Hills Road will also be replaced with new 8 inch diameter DIP. The existing pipe has been broken in the last couple of years. The new pipe will be located in the street.
The Recycled Water Retrofits for Anza Avenue Medians and Parks Project will substitute the use of potable water for irrigation in the medians and parks with recycled water. The project consists of replacing existing potable water meters and new pipes. The City Parks that will be retrofitted are: a) Victor Park, b) Seaside Heroes Park, c) Paradise Park, and d) La Paloma Park.
