The following is the candidate's statement as it appears in the sample ballot.

I have had the honor of serving the people of Torrance for the last 10 of my 17 years experience as a Deputy City Treasurer. My husband, four daughters, and I are proud Torrance residents. I serve as a Board Member of the Torrance Education Foundation and Rose Float Association, and am active with the PTA.

I received my Bachelor's degree from USC and further enhanced my skills with numerous technical training courses. I am a member of the California Municipal Treasurers Association and several other professional organizations.

As your Treasurer, my investment policies will protect and preserve the City's assets with conservative investment practices. Safety of principal, liquidity to meet the City's cash flow needs, and a maximum rate of return are my goals. My involvement with all aspects of the City's financial operations has prepared me to immediately assume the critical responsibilities of this ofice You can trust in my competence to make the appropriate decisions.

I am proud to have the support of City Treasurer Linda Barnett, Mayor Frank Scotto, five Council Members and many community leaders. To assure the City's secure financial future, vote DANA CORTEZ on June 8th, a vote for proven Torrance fiscal experience.
