The following is the candidate's statement as it appears in the sample ballot.
During the past four years we have experienced difficult financial times and had to make tough decisions to protect your vital services. The city's budget is balanced and we continue to make progress in the areas of infrastructure and safety.
I have worked to preserve our public safety organizations and kept every campaign promise I made four years ago while protecting our city's reserves. We were able to add an additional paramedic unit to reduce response times.
As we move forward we will once again be faced with tough decisions and it is important to keep the trusted leadership in place that has worked so well for you. I chair the Finance and Government Relations Committee that makes critical budget recommendations to the full Council. I also chair the Armed Forces Committee and sit on the Public Safety and Community Planning and Design Committees.
Diana and I put four children through the Torrance School District. I remain a strong supporter of the new collaborative relationship between the City and the School District.
