PLAZA DEL AMO SEWER PROJECT, I-61

Project Manager: John Dettle, P.E.
Project Engineer: Emmanuel Martin

The contractor will be slurry sealing and striping Plaza Del Amo from Border Ave to the school parking lot, which will require significant traffic detours.  Beginning May 27, 2008 and ending May 29, 2008, traffic will be detoured off Plaza Del Amo from Boarder Ave. to Carson Street.  The detours will be set up after school starts and taken down before school ends.  This is the last major traffic disruption and the last part of this project.

Project Description:

The limit of the sewer project on Plaza Del Amo is between Border Avenue to the east and the Torrance Unified School District Administration Offices to the northwest. This project will replace portions of the existing 12" sewer pipe with new 18" sewer pipes. The existing 12" sewer is deficient in capacity.  Construction will also include the installation of new sewer manholes, replacement of existing asphalt concrete curbs with new concrete curbs along the west side of Plaza Del Amo from Arlington Avenue to the projection of Jefferson Street. The estimated cost for the project is $1,040,287.  The contractor for the project is Charles King Company, Inc.  Construction will begin on January 2, 2008.  Work adjacent to Torrance High School will take place during spring break.  The project should be completed by May, 2008.
