North Torrance Water Main Replacement Project, I-73
Engineering Manager: John Dettle, P.E.
Project Engineer: Jeff Kidd, P.E.
This project continues the City's efforts to replace old cast iron water mains in areas with a high frequency of water main breaks. The project will replace approximately 4.2 miles of water mains in the area bounded by the Dominguez Channel to the north, Van Ness Avenue to the east, Artesia Boulevard to the south, and Crenshaw Boulevard to the west. In addition, the project includes retrofitting and supplying a nursery and Del Amo Boulevard median (between Crenshaw Boulevard and Van Ness Avenue) irrigation systems with recycled water, and the replacement of large water main valves near the intersections of Torrance Boulevard and Crenshaw Boulevard and Torrance Boulevard and Madrona Avenue. The project budget is $4,400,000. It is anticipated that construction will begin in December, 2007 and will be completed in April, 2009.
