The City Clerk is directly elected by the citizens and is responsible under Section 620 and 621 of the City Charter to serve as the custodian of the City Seal and to keep the record of proceedings of the City Council including ordinances, resolutions, and minutes. In addition, the City Clerk provides information to citizens and City departments as well as support services to City departments as required.
Notice of Intention to fill a vacancy on the Torrance City Council by appointment
The Torrance City Council took action at their regular meeting of July 15, 2014 to fill by appointment the unexpired term of Councilmember Pat Furey, who resigned from the City Council on July 15, 2014.
The term of office is from appointment on July 15, 2014 until the regular municipal election scheduled for June 2016 results are certified.
All applicants must be residents and registered voters of the City of Torrance. Registration form and applications packets may be obtained from the City Clerk's Office.
City Hall is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and closed alternate Fridays.
Applications must be returned to the City Clerk no later than 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 4.
The appointment will be made at a regular public meeting on Tuesday, August 12, at 7 p.m., or soon thereafter as business permits.
